Hilterapia®: a study confirms its effectiveness on subacromial impingement

To carry out an assessment of the effectiveness of Hilterapia® for treating subacromial impingement syndrome (SAIS) in the short and in the long term: this was the objective of a study (The effectiveness of high-intensity laser therapy on pain, range of motion, functional capacity, quality of life, and muscle strength in subacromial impingement syndrome: a 3-month follow-up, double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled trial) which involved 63 patients suffering from this pathology, divided into two groups.

The first group of 32 patients underwent Hilterapia® and physical exercises 5 times every 7 days for 3 weeks, while the second one underwent Hilterapia® placebos and exercises.
The following parameters were evaluated at the start of treatment and after 3 and 12 weeks: range of motion (ROM), the pain scale (VAS), the level of suffering and the ability to carry out normal daily activities for shoulder function (Constant-Murley score), muscle strength and quality of life. Although there were evident results for all the patients, when comparing the two groups, the first recorded an improved effectiveness in pain reduction, ROM and strength increase and a progressive improvement in the quality of life.

Hilterapia® is therefore confirmed as a valid treatment for subacromial impingement, enabling a long-lasting and effective recovery.
