The number of people experiencing disorders in the temporomandibular joint is constantly growing, the symptoms of which may also include headache, soreness of the masticatory muscles, audible click, or blockage of the joints.

The Study

A recent study published in the current issue of the scientific magazine Energy For Health – ‘Evaluation of the effect of MLS® Laser Therapy and Ora-GuardTM for the treatment of temporomandibular joint problems’ – shows that the combination of Ora-GuardTM device and MLS® Laser Therapy is a well-tolerated conservative approach capable of alleviating temporomandibular pain, improving joint mobility, and mouth opening.

This solution should therefore have all it takes to be a valid tool in the multimodal clinical management of patients affected by these specific problems.

The authors of the study, J. Rosswag, S. Rosswag, S. Janke, U. Janke, came to this conclusion after testing 40 patients, of which 20 treated only with the Ora-GuardTM device and as many with Ora-GuardTM and MLS®.

The pain factor, evaluated after one, three, five, and twenty-one days, showed an improvement in all patients but the most significant results were found in those who received the combined treatment.
