New study: magnetotherapy, a plus in the treatment of chronic lumbar pain

26 September 2018 - Research -

What is the effect in using pulsed electromagnetic fields with a 50Hz frequency, 20 Gauss intensity, in patients with chronic non specific low back pain?

This is the focus of the "Effect of pulsed electromagnetic field on nonspecific low back pain patients: a randomized controlled trial" research which evaluates the consequences of applying magnetotherapy in addition to conventional treatment (physical exercises) when treating this specific disease.

Result: the addition of magnetotherapy to the conventional protocol enables superior clinical improvements in terms of pain, functional disability and low back ROM in patients with nonspecific low back pain. This was confirmed by a panel of 50 patients divided into two groups (one experimental and the other conventional) undergoing a randomised and controlled prospective study.
